=-=-=--AUSTRALIA FOILS 'TERROR ATTACK'
November 8, 2005 - JVIM
BBC News reports: “Australian police say they have foiled a terrorist attack in the final stages of its preparation, after 16 people were arrested in Sydney and Melbourne.
New South Wales police chief Ken Moroney said a ‘potentially catastrophic attack?had been averted.
One suspect was shot and wounded during a raid in Sydney. Chemicals, weapons, and computers were seized, police said.
The operation came nearly a week after Australia's anti-terror laws were changed to give police greater powers.
Police raided 23 houses in Sydney and Melbourne early on Tuesday, as part of the country's largest counter-terrorism operation.
The raids involved about 500 police officers and followed a 16-month investigation, officials said.

Some Pakistani boasted of their own will and effort of rebuilding what the earthquake had taken away.
What assurance does their faith gives them? The original land and livelihood? Lies/Deceit and dispair?
Survivors ponder life without livelihoods
After the powerful South Asian earthquake, people from Pakistan's North West Frontier Province told the BBC News website how their livelihoods were shattered by the disaster.
Orchards were destroyed by landslides in the earthquake
When landslides submerged his mountainside orchards, Altaf Mohammed lost the sole source of his family's income.
"My father planted these trees himself decades ago. The day of the earthquake, his entire life's work was demolished in front of his eyes."
Mr Mohammed owned acres of apple, apricot, and walnut trees, which brought in about ¢G35,000 a year. This supported his extended family in Pakistan and financed him through a PhD in the UK where he is studying small business development in emerging economies.
"I was planning to sell a piece of this land to sustain myself and complete research, but now there's nothing to sell. My future is uncertain. I don't know how I can fund myself through the rest of this PhD. I may have to give up everything."
The trauma has reduced Mr Mohammed's family to a continuous grim silence, and he says that the uncertainty of the coming years is never mentioned.
"We are lucky to have our lives but we have to ask if our life is worth it? What will we do? It's not like we have a welfare state."
No more livings
The mountains of Pakistan's NWFP hosts some of the most fertile land in the country and local populations were heavily dependent on agriculture, orchards and livestock for income.
Rab Nawaz works in the remote tribal area of Palas valley
Rab Nawaz works for the World Wildlife Fund on a project to help rural tribal communities in northern NWFP use natural resources to make a living through kitchen gardening, animal husbandry and orchard cultivation.
He said that much of their efforts over the last ten years have been reduced to rubble as the earthquake destroyed farming infrastructure.
"Whole mountainsides have disappeared. There is just a big gap where the mountain has slipped into the river. There used to be crops here, farming land is no more
"Irrigation channels have been lost and people haven't been able to harvest their crop. What has been harvested was lost when grain stores collapsed in the quake. Many tribal people depended on livestock and these perished in the disaster.
Rebuilding lives
The United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation (UNFAO) has sent teams to the affected areas to assess the damage done to local livelihoods and their initial findings echo these experiences.
People in the Palas valley can no longer cut grass for winter fodder to feed surviving livestock
Halka Otto, Operations Officer at UNFAO said, "When the mountain shook entire fields were lost and livestock just slid into rivers, and these are contaminated at the moment. Most livelihoods will need to be completely rebuilt."
The charity Action Aid is involved in livelihood reconstruction but currently aid organisations are battling to cope with the psychological trauma of the losses.
Ancestral land destroyed
Ejaz-Ur-Rehman Khan lost scores of relatives when his ancestral village in the Kaghan valley was demolished.
"I had farming land but the landslides have destroyed that. It's covered with boulders now. Nothing was spared and it took only a minute for everything to be destroyed."
But the bulk of Mr Khan's income came from a tourist inn he set up in Abbottabad. That too collapsed from the force of the quake.
"I don't know where my next meal is coming from. I have no land, no business anymore. I'm trying to do what Robinson Crusoe did and salvage what bits I can but there is little left. After I worked so hard and just started to make returns, it is so sad."
Mohamed Suleyman with a young relative living in a tent on the outskirts of Balakot
Mohammed Suleyman, whose family farmed wheat and maize, is contemplating leaving his ancestral land in Balakot.
"We love our land but people are moving away. Our land was so valuable before but now it has no value. Balakot is a place of great darkness now."
Many others who have also lost family members, homes and livelihoods feel there is nothing left for them in these mountains and valleys. BBC News - Saturday, 29 October 2005, 14:59 GMT 15:59 UK

COTABATO, Philippines A bomb exploded today at a packed basketball game in the southern Philippines, killing at least eight people and wounding more than 40, including the town mayor.
Unidentified men had earlier fired a rocket-propelled grenade that missed Bataga's vehicle, and in April, a bomb exploded while he was in a public market.
Aside from fighting drug dealers in Parang, a predominantly Muslim coastal town 515 miles south of Manila, Bataga is also a vocal critic of Muslim separatist guerrillas in the area.

Christian Killed in Raid on Center for Handicapped (Egypt)
One Christian was killed and as many as eight others injured in the
latest attack on the Patmos Center located east of Cairo, Egypt.
According to a report received yesterday from the U.S. Copts
Association, the raid took place on the morning on January 5, when six
hundred soldiers crying, "God is Great!" converged on the center, along
with two bulldozers. The soldiers partially destroyed the perimeter
fence and set fire to some of the buildings. The attack was completely
unexpected as, only days prior, high-ranking government officials
assured the Patmos Center staff that all issues had been resolved and
there would be no further incidents. Since 1996, the center had been
raided by government soldiers on several occasions, resulting in
destruction of property and several injuries.
During this recent attack, Bishop Botros, who heads the center,
attempted to intervene. As he did so, the driver of a bus was reported
to deliberately swerve toward the bishop. Some of the staff members who
rushed to protect him were struck by the vehicle. One of them, Kirilos
Daoud, was killed.

And on Sunday, Mr. Masri's 16-year-old son, Iyad, set out seeking revenge as a suicide bomber, but killed only himself.
Mr. Masri is angry at the Israeli military, but in a telephone interview on Tuesday from Nablus, in the West Bank, he directed his sharpest criticism at fellow Palestinians who had turned Iyad into a human bomb.

A female Palestinian suicide bomber blew herself up today at the main crossing between Israel and the Gaza Strip. . .
The bombing was jointly claimed by Hamas and the Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, linked to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's Fatah movement.A Palestinian woman who identified herself only as Amena said she was waiting outside the room when four other Palestinian women entered and the blast went off.
Hamas spiritual leader Sheik Ahmed Yassin said the use of a woman bomber was unique for the Islamic group, but holy war "is an obligation of all Muslims, men and women."
"This is an indication that resistance will continue," he said.
In a video made before the bombing, Raiyshi is wearing the traditional hijab covering, holding an assault rifle and standing before two green Hamas flags as she declares her lifelong dream of becoming a suicide bomber.
"I always wanted to be the first woman to carry out a martyr attack, where parts of my body can fly all over. That is the only wish I can ask God for," she said with a smile.
Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia declined to condemn the attack . . .

GAZA, Mar 22, 2004 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- An Israeli airstrike killed the founder and spiritual leader of Hamas, Ahmed Yassin, as he was leaving a mosque in Gaza City early Monday morning.
The 67-year-old paralyzed militant had just been transferred from his wheelchair to his car when Israeli Apache helicopters fired three missiles, killing Yassin, two bodyguards and at least five others.

Thousands of Palestinians rushed to the Gaza City streets following news of the assassination, calling for revenge, chanting, and firing shots into the air.
Hamas' military wing, the Ezzedin al-Qassam Brigades, issued a statement vowing to immediately avenge Yassin's killing "like an earthquake that will hit everywhere to destroy the Zionist presence."

HAMAS: SHARON HAS OPENED THE GATES OF HELL
March 22, 2004
Ha'aretz reports: "Hamas leaders vowed Monday to 'cut off' the head of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, after their spiritual leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin was killed in a missile strike by Israeli helicopter gunships in Gaza City.
'Sharon has opened the gates of hell and nothing will stop us from cutting off his head,' leaders of the radical Islamic group vowed.
'Words cannot describe the emotion of anger and hate inside our hearts,' said Hamas official Ismail Haniyeh, a close associate of Yassin in Gaza. He said that 'the enemy should expect a response that will turn the ground under his feet to hell ... All of Palestine will turn into a volcano that will burn up the enemies.'
Top Hamas official Abdel Aziz Rantisi said 'Yassin is a man in a nation, and a nation in a man. And the retaliation of this nation, will be of the size of this man. You will see deeds not words.' Rantisi himself was wounded in an Israeli airstrike in June 2003, when a helicopter launched missiles at his car.

A nation of hatred?
A nation of piece-makers(bombing others to pieces)?

Assassinated Hamas leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin was an arch-terrorist by any definition of the term, a viper in a wheelchair, columnist Rosie DiManno writes. If his murder is now inducing shrill promises of revenge from radical groups, then it only underscores how depraved some societies have become.
Would those speakers who claim Islam, Mohammad, and Allah is for peace and good look at the facts, the Koran, and the doctrine of Islam, instead of deceiving people by satisfying their enquiries with the answers of a few nearby Muslims they happened to target for questioning?
History of Mohammad shows that peace is aired when Muslims are the minority in a non-Muslim environment (as in the Mecca verses); Oppression and destruction aired when Muslims are the majority or in power (as in the Medina verses).

Jehovah (Almighty loving God) of the Bible can communicate with people with Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, even translations. In His love He removes barriers as much as possible.
Allah of Islam makes Muslims communicate in Arabic.
The Bible communicates in many forms of literature including laws (as in Leviticus), poems (as in Psalms and Songs), stories (as in Esther and Job), and National history (as in 1,2 Kings)
Jehovah can communicate in many forms and ways even through one book.
The Koran is said to be poems only (does not sound poetic to speakers of other language [ie: Chinese] ).
Christians can meet God anywhere anytime. God is everywhere, and condescending to meet with His people. Pilgrims meet God at their knees.
Muslim have to go to Mecca.
Christians may say prayers anytime and manytimes (ie: before all meals, before and after all gatherings, in times of need, at waking up and before resting). Christians and their God are not rigid in communication. God is worship in Spirit and in Truth; not just in rigid ceremonies and rituals.
Muslims say prayers 5 times a day.
Christ (Yeshua Hamessiah and not Isa) died for victory and redeeming His sheep/people. And He has power to take up life after laying it down.
Stephen, Peter and Paul laid down their lives for the Gospel.
Thomas sold himself as a slave in order to bring the Gospel to Indians.
Christian missionaries risk getting killed to bring the Gospel (Evangelion) to the killers. Many laid down their lives with no resistance and no armed violence.
Christians promote education, language, medicine.
Christians love before God is love and God first love us. Satan is a murderer, destroyer.
Mohammad died. And Muslims kill as they demand others to convert to Islam. Muslims kill for their own glory and peace. Piece-makers are used.
Muslim men kill to gain 70 virgins and heaven(according to the Koran). Muslim women kill even that they are not promised any virgin or man after they give up their lives (according to the Koran).
Christian initiated the Red Cross for saving lives. Christ spread out His love and saves on the cross.
Muslims formed the Red Crescent as a counterpart. How is crescent related to perfection, salvation, and love?

PALESTINIAN TERRORISTS SEND 14-YEAR-OLD TO KILL HIMSELF AND OTHERS
March 25, 2004 -JVIM
Arutz Sheva reports: "One of the two new Hamas co-leaders, Khaled Mashal, called two years ago for the training of child suicide bombers - and the program seems to be well underway. Yesterday, for the second time in a week, alert IDF soldiers discovered a young Arab boy from the Palestinian Authority carrying an explosives vest designed to explode upon him and as many Israelis as possible.
Yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon, at the Hawara checkpoint near Shechem - and near Yitzhar and other Jewish communities - soldiers saw a boy approaching the checkpoint. Their suspicions aroused by the way he walked and carried himself, they immediately called out to him to stop and not to come near the soldiers. They told him to lift his shirt, and in fact underneath they saw that he was wearing an explosives vest. He held the switch in his hand, and could have detonated it at any given second. He appeared scared, and for 40 minutes the soldiers, with the aid of a robot and scissors, tried to guide him in removing the vest.
Asked afterwards why he agreed to kill himself, he gave several explanations: 'People don't like me,' he said, adding that his schoolmates laughed at him for being short, that the Tanzim promised him 100 shekels for his mother and 72 virgins in Paradise. He said that his teacher taught him that waiting for him in Paradise were rivers of honey and wine and 72 virgins, and that 'if I do good acts, I will sit there and enjoy.' Those 'good acts' include, apparently, murdering Israelis.
The boy said that his family does well financially and that he often listens to music over the internet. He said nothing about 'conquest,' 'oppression' or 'the killing of Sheikh Yassin' as being his motivation.
The boy's uncle said this morning that if he knew he sent his nephew to blow himself up, 'I would shoot him in the head.'
Nine days ago, Palestinian terrorist elements were willing to sacrifice a 10-year-old boy whom they equipped, without his knowledge, with a bomb inside a bag. They promised him 5 shekels if he would give the bag to someone on the other side of the checkpoint - but planned to detonate the bomb by remote control if he was caught

Cleric urged murder of non-Muslims, Britain charges
Preached at mosque attended by 'shoe bomber' Richard Reid
JILL LAWLESS
ASSOCIATED PRESS
LONDON - Radical Islamic cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri appeared in court today charged with urging followers to kill non-Muslims.
British prosecutors read out a 16-count indictment that includes 10 charges of soliciting or encouraging people to murder a person or people who did not believe in the Islamic faith.
The British charges pre-empt an extradition bid by the United States, where al-Masri faces 11 terrorist charges.
Only one of the 16 charges read out in Belmarsh Magistrates Court falls under anti-terror legislation. That indictment, under Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000, accuses al-Masri of possessing a book called the Encyclopedia of the Afghani Jihad.
Prosecutors said the incitement to murder was contained in speeches recorded on tape to be used as evidence. Four of the 10 charges specify that al-Masri urged the killing of Jews.
The cleric also faces four charges of using "threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour" to stir up racial hatred and one count of possessing threatening, abusive or insulting recordings.
Al-Masri nodded when asked if he understood the charges against him.
Lawyer Hugo Keith, appearing for the U.S. authorities, asked judge Timothy Workman to adjourn the extradition case until the domestic charges were dealt with.
Keith said American officials intended to ask for the extradition case to be resumed once the British case was over.
Al-Masri, 46, is former head preacher at London's Finsbury Park mosque, which has been linked to terrorist suspects including alleged Sept. 11 plotter Zacarias Moussaoui and "shoe bomber" Richard Reid.
The cleric was arrested in May after U.S. authorities brought 11 terrorism-related charges against him, including allegedly trying to establish a terrorist training camp in Oregon, involvement in hostage-taking in Yemen and funding terrorism training in Afghanistan.
The Encyclopedia of Afghani Jihad, or holy war, is produced by Osama bin Laden's Al Qaeda network and provides what the group calls the "basic rules of sabotage and terror" with highly technical detail, including diagrams.
A copy of the manual was obtained by The Associated Press in 2001 after it was reportedly stolen from the former headquarters of bin Laden's organization in Afghanistan.
The preface to Mouswada al Jihad al Afghani, the manual's Arabic name, says it is meant for use in the battle against "the enemies of our movement, the enemies of Allah, for any Islamic group."

IRAN CLAIMS ARREST OF 5,000 AL QAIDA AGENTS
June 11, 2005 - JVIM
The Middle East Newsline reports: “Iran has reported the arrest of nearly 5,000 operatives of Al Qaida.
Iranian officials said the detentions of Al Qaida agents began in 2002 and that most of them have been transferred to their native countries. They said the detentions have been reported to the United Nations.
Iranian National Security Adviser Hassan Rowhani said his country has not harbored senior Al Qaida operatives. Rowhani said an unspecified number of operatives remain in detention and would be tried.
‘I don't think any country could claim superiority over us [regarding the war against Al Qaida],?Rowhani said during his visit this week to Kuwait?
D.Lim: Al Qaida not seen as working for Allah or Islam even by Iran. The greatness of Allah is not interpreted by Muslims including Iranian Muslims as success of terrorists in terrorism.
However, returning terrorists or operatives of terrorism back to their native countries is not reducing terrorists or terrorism. It is just a gesture of transfering power and action. They were not said to be punished by Islamic Sharia law immediately or in any forseeable future.
The hand of a thief may be cut off. The hand of a murderer(ie: terrorist who believe in killing/murdering and will take all opportunity to kill and destroy) is left intact.
Does this reflect anything of Islamic law and justice?
