Biblical Worship

Not just some little lip service.

The way Charismatics worship God has been bad mouthed by anti-Charismatics who pose themselves as Evangelicals.

Let us look at some of the Bible reference on the right style of worship commanded by the Word of God:

Shout

My lips shall greatly rejoice:

1Thes 4v16:

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Ps 149 v5:

Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds.

Isa 42 v11:

Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.

Isa 52 v8, 9:

Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the LORD shall bring again Zion.

Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the LORD hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem.

Isa 65 v14:

Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but ye shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall howl for vexation of spirit.

Ps 145 v7:

They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness.

Ps 98 v4:

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

Ps 71 v23:

My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.

Ps 47 v1:

O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.

Ps 32 v11:

Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

Ps 35 v27:

Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.

Ps 65 v13:

The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with corn; they shout for joy, they also sing.

D.Lim: Singing and shouting are two different expressive elements of joy and worship.

Stretch out our hands . . . Raise up our hands

If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god;

La 2 v19:

Arise, cry out in the night: in the beginning of the watches pour out thine heart like water before the face of the LORD: lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children, that faint for hunger in the top of every street.

La 3 v41:

Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.

I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

Ps 47 vv1,2:

O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.

For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.

Raising up our hands

Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

Isa 1 v15:

It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God.

Dancing in Worship

And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.

And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.

Ps 149 v3:

Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.

D.Lim: Timbrel consist of cymbals. Praise God with crashing metalic sounds/music. Bronze is the most musical metal/alloy.

D.Lim: Stringed instruments such as guitars have thousands of years of history dated back to old Egyptian times, and is regarded as harps. Playing guitars to glorify God is very suitable.

Ps 150 v4:

Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.

D.Lim: Dancing is part of the praise. We ought to praise God with all our might and all our desire. No limping around.

D.Lim: Do away the nonsense of forbidding music and music instruments. Organs are more key-board like instruments, although glass organs do not quite resemble keyboard in shape. The arrangement of keys is the same. Electronic organs are also suitable to praise God with.

Jer 47 v3:

At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong horses, at the rushing of his chariots, and at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers shall not look back to their children for feebleness of hands;

D.Lim: Feebleness of hands is not an expression of blessings or strength in determination.

D.Lim: Many are enslaved by their customs and preference. Many avoid doing the teachings and admonition of Scriptures. Many are scared of lossing control in rejoicing(refusing to trust God for their protection).

Some are arrogant to think what they are doing is enough and glorious.

Come, taste the Lord God and see that He is good indeed.

So much joy.

So much praising.

How so very true that Satan is behind our modern day PC-just enough not to offend-feel good faith.

This is ever so a problem in the UCC Church which has the position on much on The Word and the Bible as obsolete ancient middle-eastern cultural history/practices in order to justify their progressive social and political stands.

Yep...something will come along that is 90% truth...but that remaining 10% will be the deal breaker.
