C250 of Canada - a restricting bill on thoughts and acts

Private Bill C250 by gay activist mp in Canada has great social implication concerning personal and social freedom.
Christians are fighting it on social political grounds.
Spiritually its being prayed upon.
Secular society probably think that Christians are fighting its spiritual implication via political means. Spiritually no ground is lose, for Christ Jesus has already won; and is able to keep His own elect. Politically, the whole humanity is running downhill towards destruction and amorality swiftly.

Marriage is to be honored by all, and husbands and wives must be faithful to each other. - Hebrews 13:4

Dear Friend

Please see the attached ?very critical?

On Friday last, Brian Rushfeldt of the Canadian Family Action Coalition (C-FAC) accidentally discovered that a Senate committee has commenced 'public' hearings on Bill C-250, the bill that is likely to make it a 'hate crime' to challenge the morality of homosexual conduct or lifestyles.

He asked why he had not been notified of the hearings, since he had asked to make a presentation. No reason was given. Instead, he was told to appear before the committee in Ottawa today, Wednesday, 17 March, only three business days later. At the cost of the maximum possible air fare, booking less than seven days in advance, Rushfeldt will be allowed only five minutes to make his case against the bill.

Rushfeldt also learned that Svend Robinson, Amnesty International, a Vancouver 'Hate Crimes' policeman and members of EGALE (Equality for Gays and Lesbians Everywhere) had already appeared and had had more than five minutes each to speak in favour of the bill.

REAL Women of Canada has placed a full-page advertisement in today's National Post to bring this bill to the public's attention. They have also provided individuals with the tools to be heard on this issue. If the senators won't hear opposition to the bill in committee we need to reach them another way. Please go to http:\\www.killbillc250.com and let the government and senators know that they will not be able to push this bill through unnoticed.

For information about Bill C250, see Get Ready for the Knock on the Door (http://ccrl.ca/article_SM_021004.html), Summary of Objections to Bill C-250 (http://ccrl.ca/resources_CCRL_C250.html) and Bill C-250 pamphlet (pdf) (http://ccrl.ca/C250 pamphlet.pdf).

Thank you for taking the time to oppose this bill.

Sincerely,

TCEMF- Bill C250 & emergency prayer mtg.

Dear Co-workers in Christ,

Greetings!

Candice from Senator Ann Cools just called that Bill C250 has now finished the committee stage and will be reintroduced back to the Senate this afternoon. A vote is likely to be held on coming Monday (March 29, 2004). As stated earlier this Bill intends to close down any debate over homosexuality and will implicate parts of the Bible and other printed material which could than be labeled as hate propoganda. Hate Propoganda Bill AB1755 in California (similar to Bill C250) allows state authorities to 'retrain' children in schools who are found to be at 'risk of homophobia.' Most Canadians do not know about this bill or its implications.

We definitely need to PRAY FERVENTLY for that. Pray that

'O Lord, revive thy works in the midst of the years,

in the midst of the years make known;

in wrath remember mercy'

Response:

1. Please lead your congregation to pray for God's intervention & mercy this Sunday.

2. Motivate the congregation to join the fasting & prayer meeting.

Date: March 28, 2004. (Coming Sunday)

3. Call all the senators from their province and voice their opinion. The toll free telephone number is 1-800-267-7362.

Please PASS ON the message & PRAY.

God will hold us accountable for the result, but for what we have and have not done.

Canadian Senate Breaks Rules to Push Through Motion to End Debate on Bill C-250 Final Passage on the Homosexual Hate Crimes Bill Expected Wednesday or Thursday OTTAWA, April 27, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The long struggle to stop gay activist NDP MP Svend Robinson's Bill C-250, which adds the wide open term "sexual orientation" to Canada's hate crimes law, appears to be almost over thanks to corrupt manipulation of Senate procedures by supporters of the bill.

At about 6 pm this evening, the Senate passed Senator Lowell Murray's unprecedented motion of closure which immediately ended all debate on C-250. Because of a motion passed last week, any debate of Senator Murray's closure motion was disallowed. Last week's motion to clear the way for the closure motion was introduced by Serge Joyal, who, as stated by REAL Women of Canada, is a homosexual Liberal MP from Montreal.

An assistant to Senator Anne Cools told LifeSiteNews.com that it has been a rough day for the Senator who has been leading efforts to stop C-250 in the Senate. The assistant said that Senators spoke right over Senator Cools when she was speaking and would not acknowledge her requests to be heard.

An assistant to another senator said that the procedures today on C-250 were "highly irregular" and "did not follow proper rules of the Senate". She said there were "lots of reversals and strange decisions" during the rigged C-250 part of today's session of the Senate.

This follows the pattern of many other irregularities that have been committed to further the bill on its passage through the House of Commons and the Senate.

the final approval that will make C-250 law...

April 28 - Call to prayer. Today at 3:00p.m. all remaining votes on C-250 will take place, disposing of the remaining amendment, and giving the final approval that will make C-250 law.

Details - Late last week a major development occurred. Senator Lowell Murray (Progressive Conservative) moved to dispose of C-250. This may sound like a good thing, but it is not. His motion now requires that the final votes on C-250 take place Wednesday April 28 at 3:00 p.m.

If this bill becomes law, we urge all Christians to be neither provoked nor intimidated by these new measures. Instead: - Let us pray that police and government will prevent abuse of this law.
- Let us continue to express the call to holiness in Canada with gentleness and respect.
- Let us continue to teach and practice the full counsel of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, without fear

Controversial Bill Becomes Law (Canada)

Bill C-250 has passed final reading in the Canadian Senate and received royal assent on April 29, making it law. The bill has raised concerns among Christians because of the vague wording and potential of abuse. The bill revises the hate propaganda laws to specifically include sexual orientation in laws which make it a crime to "incite hatred against any identifiable group...."

Many religious groups, including the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada (EFC) and the Catholic Civil Rights League, have expressed concerns that, despite assurances that religious opinion will be exempt, the courts have frequently restricted the use of religious beliefs as a defense.

In reporting the passage of the bill on April 29, the National Post gave the ability to prosecute those expressing religious beliefs as a positive reason for this bill, saying, "Police have so far been powerless to prosecute the likes of Rev. Fred Phelps of Topeka, Kan., who runs a website that declares God hates homosexuals."

While expressing God's love and strongly opposing the spread of hatred against anyone, including homosexuals, the EFC expressed concerns about the "chilling effect" this legislation could have on legitimate expression of religious belief. According to Dr. Janet Epp Buckingham, director of Law and Public Policy for the EFC, "Christians have seen their rights to dissent restricted by case after case in the courts.... We no longer trust that the guarantee of religious freedom in the Charter [of Rights and Freedoms] is necessarily going to apply to protect religious free speech." VOM spokesman, Glenn Penner, advises that Christian leaders thoroughly research the issue of sexual orientation and be prepared to defend the biblical teaching as historically held by the Church. "While there are doubts about whether freedom of religious expression will be protected by the Charter or the hate propagation laws in the criminal code," said Penner, "we must be certain that what we believe and speak is an opinion firmly based on our biblical text, the Bible. And we need to speak up on the issue, to let our courts know (should the need arise) what the majority of Christians believe; that homosexuality is contrary to the will of God and must be repented of like other sinful practices. Of course, we do not condone the vitriol expounded like folks like Rev. Phelps, but people do have the right to express wrong opinions. In fact, it is the very nature of freedom of expression that we allow people to speak things which we do not agree with, either in tone or content."

Pray that the courts will respect the religious beliefs of Canadians and that this law will not be used to prosecute Christians. Pray for wisdom for the EFC, the CCRL and other groups actively involved in defending the religious rights of Christians in Canada. A copy of the Canadian hate propaganda laws, highlighting the changes with Bill C-250, is available on our website at http://www.persecution.net/download/hatepropaganda.pdf.

Changes in U.S. Courts
Posted by Rev. David B. on March 27, 2004, 8:00 pm

Dear friends in Christ,
It is my understanding that the U.S. Courts are removing the swearing in oath under God in legal courts. The new buzz word is now, " secular affirmation." Those representing Human Secularism have removed the Lord's prayer here in Canada from the schools and the pledge of allegiance in America. Now in Canada there is a bill C-250 before Parliment that will make the Bible hate literature because the Bible it states certain life styles are an abomination before the Lord. I feel that our freedom of speech is being challenged and the Church and Christian community is being silenced. The Word of God declares "Righteous exalts a Nation but sin is a reproach to any people."
Please join with me in prayer that God will be lifted up and hearts and lives will be turned to the Lord through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When sin abounds that much more will grace abound. Romans 5:20

No matter how many laws we have against murder, how many police we have to catch the culprits, how many courts we have to prosecute and punish them and how many prisons we have to lock them up, only a conscience informed by a law greater than a human law can stop a murder before it happens (Rob Schenck, USA Today)

Twisting and stretching the Constitution, U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson overstepped his bounds on Aug. 6 by ordering Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore to remove the two-ton stone etched with God’s Ten Commandments as well as historical quotes that point to those laws as the foundation of U.S. jurisprudence.

Justice Moore will not obey this order because:
> It would grant jurisdiction to a federal court, which is acting beyond the scope of its lawful jurisdiction;
> It would violate his oath of office to the Alabama Constitution, which specifically declares the state laws to be under God;
> It would ratify an unlawful and usurpatious application of the First Amendment; and most importantly
> It would concede that the God of Scripture is not supreme over the laws of the United States.

We need to respect the rule of law, but whence do we get this reverence for law, for a few dusty words on paper, interpreted by always fallible and sometimes malicious, ambitious or ignorant men and women in funny costumes? (Maggie Gallagher)
