Q: Why is your name so long?
A: The "Church/Assembly of God" is Scriptural, that is it is the name of the church as recorded in the Holy Bible.
We choose to evangelise and witness for God even in/by the mentioning of the name of the church. So, the name of the head of the church(Mt16v18, Eph5v23, 24, Col1v18) which is "Jesus Christ" is mentioned/included.
The name of the church also teaches and confirms that Jesus Christ is God, and co-equal with God. The Church belongs to Christ Jesus, who is her Head.
We are seen as a denomination, and need to have a name that can be registered with secular organisation/government, differ somewhat with other denominations, and yet close to the heart of the Word of God.
With these consideration, the Spirit inspired David Lim to raise up our banner in this name. (1Cor11vv1,2)
Q: The name "Church of God" sounds like a cult. Yours is a cult.
A: A cult usually has straight discipline to punish(usually severely) deviant members. We choose to admonish any sinning person.
A: A cult is any non-Christian religion. We are a church upholding Christ, and lifting up the banner of Lord Jesus Christ. We are Evangelicals, Charismatics, and Biblical. We are Christ people, Jesus People. We have fellowship with known Christian Churches and fellowships. The founder - David Lim is an ordained minister of many known/recognised Christian Churches.
A: One can register or incorporate almost any name as a Christian Church.
The name "Church of God" is the only name of the church found in the Bible(1Cor15v9, 2Cor1v1, 1The2v14, 1Ti3v5, 15). Recognised names of denominations such as Baptist Church, Anglican Church, Catholic Church, Methodist Church, can not be found in the Holy Bible.
"Church of God" is registered and used for Pentecostal assemblies, such as Scarborough Church of God and Church of God in Scarborough(a city in Toronto, and now a district in the new combined Toronto and GTA).
Q: The Churches I go to are not house church; why is yours different?
A: The churches you attend are not necessarily perfect in all sense of the word "perfect".
All new testament churches in Scriptures are house churches(Phil v2, Acts11v26, Rm16v5). This is the only principle and example given to us in the Holy Word of God. And we chose to follow it instead of following history of later periods and some other church tradition. We worship the truth in the Bible and not the revered truth taught in some parts of the body of Christ. We chose to be Godward, and God-centred.
Q: What form of water Baptism does this church administer?
A: Water Baptism that is Scriptural. Usually submersion with water sprinkled or poured over the head of the repented person upon his/her declaration of repentance and allegiance to God.
With years of studies, gifts of the Spirit, David Lim come to realise and enforce the Scriptural teaching that Baptism is not immersion. The term (Bapto - Lk16v24, Jn13v26, Mt26v23, Mk14v20, Jn13v26) as used in the Bible does not mean immersion, but to dip. There is reference to sprinkling of the heart/spirit in the Bible (Heb9vv13,19,21, Heb10v22, Heb12v24, 1Pet1v2.)
We are not members of your denomination, therefore need not submit to your teaching and enforcement of immersion. We are not Baptists or Immersionists. We are an independent spiritual denomination answerable to Almighty God/Yhwh.
Q: Is there one church in one city only? Are you not factious?
A: In Christ and in the Spirit Holy there is only one Church in the whole World! And we pledged unity in Christ.
There can be many churches in one city and district.(Acts15v41, 1Cor16vv1,19, 2Cor8v1)
Historically, some cultic/extreme denominations claim to be the only church in the city and even in the World. The Church of God in Hong Kong headed by "brother fish" or "Daniel Yu" does that; many small flock churches do that. They cannot monopolise the Church of God/Christ by their unilateral claim and heresies(wrong teachings and practices). Also there are often more than one of their churches in one city/place/district, eg: many in the special district of Hong Kong(which is not a city, but consists of many cities, such as Hong Kong city, Kowloon city)- Yet his denomination is registered as The Church of God in Hong Kong - disregarding The Church of God and Assemblies of God, which are Pentecostal denominations. Many cities and regions in Toronto and GTA(Toronto was a combination of 6 cities[including Metro Toronto, City of Scarborough and York] and GTA includes Toronto and regions[including Region of York and Peel]. Yet The Church of God in Toronto is registered with secular government.[Not a city church but doctrinally teach of city churches.]
A: We recognise many brethren in many fellowship and churches throughout the World. We worship and break bread together. We share the same facilities. We make common stand, witness and evangelise together for God/Christ. We love one another.
God does not just save and befriend the elite and the perfect ones. God loves sinners.
Q: Should churches have buildings,church sanctuaries, church halls?
A: These are not essential to any church of God although we do have and use some church building.
Matt10v17, Mk13v9, Jn16v2 refers to Jewish synagogues. No Gentile Christian built and worship in their synagogue; fewer called them churches. No Bible reference calls a synagogue a church.
Mk13v9 also mentions courts, governors and kings which are not places or officers of Christian churches. The verse refers to secular confrontation. Mk13v11 talks of arrest. Christians hardly arrest anyone in churches/assemblies.
Some church people use these verses as proof text to justify churches with church buildings. Their churches hardly has any building called court, law court or synagogue.
Mark5v22, Lk8v41 - There are rulers in synagogue; but no such term of office in Christian churches/assemblies. They are not evangelists, as is required of Christian overseers, pastors and evangelists, for Judaism belongs to the Jews/Israelites only. They need not evangelise other nations.
Rev2v9 - refers to Jews and Jewish religion as well. Synagogue also refers to congregation.
Q: Do you recognise the Roman Catholic Church as the church you developed from?
A: No. We do not. And we do not recognise or acknowledge the Roman Catholic Church as a Biblical Church. We are not an outcome of sin and falsehood. We do not adhere to Catholic tradition or council.
A: This denomination is found on the foundation of the gifts of the Spirit, calling and commission of God, commission of the brethren in Christ, and the Holy Word of God.
Q: Do you realise that denomination is unscriptural?
A: We do not set out to call ourselves "The Church" so as to tread on all other believers of Christ.
You are recognised and seen as a denomination, like it or not, by the world as representing a kind or branch of the Christian Church. It is in this context that we are described as a denomination. Pay Caesar what belongs to Caesar.
Denominationism also help to clarify the Theological leaning of each group and prepare grounds for interaction and reaction. We pray God to help our unity, for the flesh is weak.
However, in real life, we work closely with believers of the Church. We affirm ourselves as members of the Body of Christ. We have fellowship with all true believers of Christ. We witness together and share resources. We worship together and pray together. We bless all the elect. We pray for and bless Israel and Jerusalem.
In places (eg: Shanghai of China) where all believers belong to one Church only and denomination does not exist, we worship and fellowship together as one body.
Q: Is David Lim an outcast of The Church of God in Toronto?
A: No. David Lim has never joined The Church of God in Toronto, or The Church of God in Hong Kong. No application or declaration of membership has ever been given(not even voiced). David Lim has never declared support for their heretic doctrine such as sinless babies, pastorless churches, elderless churches, Arminianism, anti-Charismatic teachings.
However, this church ruled under/by Joshua Chung and Bonnie and Dora had secretly issued punishment in 2001 against David Lim, forbidding the use of all its publication and material, and voicing out anything in their church.
The wife of David Lim was secretly contacted by this church for things against her husband.
David Lim was officially ordained in 2000 by a number of Christian ministries/churches, and has been pioneering and conducting many Gospel ministries before 1996.
Q: Are you an internet Church?
A: Yes, and more than that. We have physical churches on Earth with real Christian assemblies. We are an international fellowship/church/assembly; having internet and physical fellowship with other recognised churches.
The body of Christ is ONE; therefore all parts, faculties and ministries are one. One effort. One purpose. One Faith.
Q: Do you make yourselves a cult by being invisible, so secretive?
A: We are not answerable to all organisation in the World, so as to publish all information demanded by them. Many organisations are actively persecuting Christians. We have the right and need to protect them from exposure and targeting by evil-doers.
No Christian need to know all Christians in the church to practice his faith and love of God.
A: We have giantic Q&A internet network, CD data distribution, and printed material/book to answer many questions people may have, and support Christian growth. We do not set out to be secretive, so as to hinder our witness and disciplship for Christ and the church.
Unlike many exclusive churches/denominations, much of our doctrinal material are made free for copying, studying and use for the edification of the Church so that many Christians and seekers may benefit from our ministries and encouragement.
We actively encourage Christians to do more for Christ/God Almighty.
Q: Do you have pastors?
A: We have offices according to Holy Scriptures(Ephe4v11).
Ordained ministers of our chruch apart from teachers are all taking position and office of pastors and elders. We believe in existence of prophets and apostles in this day and age, as the Holy Bible is for our time.
Q: Do you recognise Islam and Mohammad as from/of God?
A: No, we do not.
And Yeshua is not Isa. Jesus is not just a porphet; and He is not an Islamic prophet. Yeshua/Jesus is the Christ/HaMessiah, Son of God, Redeemer, King of the Universe, The Way, The Truth and The Life.
According to the Word of God, Modammad of Islam is no prophet of God/Yhwh. Muslims do not commonly know or submit to the Name of Jehovah ElShaddai. So, they do not worship the only one true God - Jehovah is His Name. Neither Jehovah nor Yhwh appear in Islamic scriptures. Isa does not equate Jesus Christ. Arabic is close to Hebrew, and nothing similar to Yeshua HaMessiah is there in the Koran and other Arabic scriptures(ie: Hadith).
Whosoever does not submit that Christ Jesus is God who came in the flesh, was dead and is alive, is not of God, to be regarded as evil and rejected. -2John
By this we will test spirits and church organisation.
Q: Are you condemning others not having your ways?
A: We desire to walk with God in Truth. We are to obey and fear the only true God.
If we condemn some people by our adherence(Christian action) to the Law of God and our walks with Christ(in humblness and brotherhood of love), it just shows that others are not adhering to the Law of God or walking with Christ. They are dead in their trespasses and sin. The Law of God, which is the Word of God judges them.
We would admonish them to repent. Kiss the Son/Yeshua, lest He be angry.
Q: Are there many paths to the same goal?
A: No. only Christian paths to the one true God. (Jn3, 1Jn3, 2Jn) The body/bride of Christ is not some goal. It belongs to God.
No other path lead to God, neither is there salvation or eternal hope outside Christ Jesus/Yeshua. (Acts16v31, Jn5v24)
It is appointed for mankind to live once, and judgement of God follows. - Hebrews 9v27
There is no reincarnation. Evil spirits blind sinners from seeing the reality.
Q: You are just one of the many ways to Godliness!
A: This is a lie rather than a question. (Eccl7v20, Rm3v23, Jm2v10, Ga2v16)
A: Jesus is The Answer for the World. Jesus is the only mediator and intercessor between God and mankind. Jesus is The Way, The Truth, and The Life. (Jn14v6, 1Jn2v2)
Apart from the Biblical Jesus/Messiah/The Son, there is no true way, no way to God Almighty(The Father), no truth, no redemption, no rebirth, and no life. (Jn14v6)
Q: What is required to join this church?
A: What is required by the Christian Bible.
One needs to be born again(Jn3). One needs to uphold the declaration of faith of the church(which is very basic and does not cover all fine detail of what this denomination believes and upholds). One needs to repent from sins as indicated in the Holy Bible.(Mt6v33, Ga2v16) One needs to love God and be Godward.
One needs the desire to regard this church as his/her spiritual home and fellowship.
A: One needs to contact any minister of the Church of God Jesus Christ, and ask for official inclusion. Write to David Lim for their name and detail, and state where exactly you are. You know them when you meet them physically; for they witness for the church.
Q: Can I just visit the church, learn from the pages and leave without joining?
A: Joining membership is not essential for visitors. We do see the need, as Christians, to worship to Lord God together, whensoever and wheresoever. We see the need and command of Christ for Christians to have fellowship.
Q: Do you take offerings and donations?
A: Yes. It is the duty and joy of believers to give and to support the Church and Gospel Work.
Non-Christians, through their love of God, the Truth, and Christians, may also donate and offer anything to God. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Non-believers are not welcomed to offer anything in order to glorify or uphold their worship of other gods, deity, spirits, religion and goals.
Q: Do you give to other churches?
A: Yes. First of all much of our doctrinal information, teaching material are free for use by any Christian and Church. Secondly, we do financially support other ministries, fellowship, and Christians. We do not actively invite secular audition, for we are doing spiritual work and offering to God and the Church, and not to secular government and organisation.
Q: Do you allow for dual membership?
A: Yes when our members can live up to the doctrinal principles of our church/denomination, and not make compromise by adhering to principles of other church/es they join.
There are many Free Ordination services/Ministries available to support and serve servants of God. The requirement of membership is that everyone may demonstrate adherence to the doctrinal principles set out by the ministries, to holiness and to the Glory of God.
We are not an "either or" organisation. Our members need to have integrity and holiness. Every member must stay true to the calling of joining our church/denomination.
The Alpha Church has less doctrines and doctrinal restriction for those Christians less capable to adhering to many truths the Church of God Jesus Christ has received from the Lord God. Human weakness is catered for(This is no slighting or condemnation).
Q: Do you advocate separation of Church and State?
A: Yes. Pay Caesar(secular government and authorities) what belongs to Caesar; and give God what belongs to God. We still pray for our government and rulers.
We also advocate separation from evil and heretics.
Q: Do your churches registered with government and States?
A: The Church of God, is as the name indicates - The Church of GOD. We are in the books of God and do things by the book/Bible.
The laws of government and States are hardly the laws of the Bible. In fact, many government hate God and the Bible so much as to have rejected the Bible as their law, or part of their law, and rejected(do away with) vow and oath with the Bible and the Bible alone. We do not harbor desire to submit to God-haters and God-hating sinners and be dictated by systems aimed to eliminate God.
Our mandate, priority, and aim is not to gain charity status, secular respect/reputation, or tax benefit. Our reputation is built in Christ.
Fear God, who after your physical death, can punish and put your spiritual bodies to death.
We pray for our persecutors.
Q: Who legalise David Lim in any Gospel Work?
A:
anyway, is irrelevant if anyone that gave Brother Dave ordination in paper has any right to revoke such ordination, all any group can do is to cancel membership in their fellowship since God is the one that calls someone into ministry therefore any one called by the Lord does not need man's approval or recognition, those called to ministry seek man's fellowship and ordination (on paper) for a step of recognition in going about doing ministry to those the Lord guides to minister to...
It is to me very encouraging that within the past couple of months Brother Dave and FICOTW had been attacked in the internet...

A: As the founder of The Church of God Jesus Christ, I, David C S Lim, by Divine anointing and commission, conduct activities of Gospel Work as directed by our Lord Jesus Christ, and not by any organization by registration, or by other names, or by any created medium.
I lead the flock of God that goes under the banner of "The Church of God Jesus Christ, run by David Lim". No one is having any right or authority to take any believer from my flock given by God Almighty.
I am ordained by a number of Christian fellowship, church, organization, for fellowship, service to fellow Christians, and Christian work/witness outside the fellowship of The Church of God Jesus Christ and Alpha Church. None of my establishment and flock is under the authority or direction of these organization and others as secular government would introduce at times.
Believers of my churches and fellowship are to serve God/Yhwh and not any secular/registered organization. The Church belongs to Christ Jesus, the Chief Shepherd, the Groom.
