Pastor John Griffin of the Heights United Methodist Church has decided to stage performances of Broadway musical numbers in his church to remedy his attendance problem. "I had a dying church and we had to do something to bring people in," explains the East Hollywood, California, pastor. "The music people love, to my mind is sacred," said Griffin. The United Methodist bishop who oversees Crescent Heights has not condemned the services, offering instead the suggestion that the church be sure to include a number from a famous gay musical.
