Congregationalism - An personal view
Congregationalism rests on a non-biblical ideal that the larger means the better, that the building up and unity of the christian church on Earth is the prime task of all christians.
The United Reformed Church, the United Church, and Congregationalism emphasise on coming together, to congregate(regardless of coming into the whole truth); rather than leaving worldly life/living for the common purpose of representing God/Christ and be Holy/set apart, to Assembling people.
D: The commandment of Christ at the end of all 4 gospels, even throughout the gospels only place emphasis on the preaching and the building of the Kingdom of God.
D: Preaching the gospel of Christ and the Kingdom of God and making disciples has prior ity over building up an established group of christians.
Paul the apostle went to Arabia to preach the word immediate after his conversion (Galatians 1vv15-18).Jesus, after his baptism, went immediately into the desert rather than going straight into the building up of any congregation.
D: The kingdom of God does not depend on any large congregation of believers. Christ only chose 12 to follow Him from the many He gathered in the beginning. Christ never say that all mankind will be saved, in order to have a large number of people in Heaven.
D: The kingdom of Heaven does not depend on a tangible amount of church building and properties on Earth. For God is a Spirit, and those who worship Him must do so in spirit and in truth; rather than in material belongings. Christ even told a rich man to sell all he has to give to the poor before following Him. Worldly possession could be a hinderance to spiritual life. The righteous shall live by faith (Gal 3v11), not be seeing and relying on tangible organisation and human support.
URC believer/Congregationalist: You can not effectively preach the gospel without first having a church body to commission you. People/non-believers do not believe in individuals. And the church on Earth is the body of Christ on Earth, which is to be continued in Heaven.
D: Christ never teach the building of church prior to the preaching of the kingdom and the gospel, and teaching the believers all He has commanded them. The church is built up by believers; make believers and you automatically have a church.
There is no guarantee that the churches near you are biblical christian church. What is that to you? You follow Christ (John 21v22).
