THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF AMERICA POSITION ON HOMOSEXUALITY & SAME-SEX MARRIAGE...

Posted by Minister Maria G., evangelist on May 26, 2005, 2:04 am

Greetings,

today I received OK to publish this statement from the Presbyterian Church of America:

"PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF AMERICA STATEMENTS ON HOMOSEXUALITY:

In light of the recent decisions in the Episcopal Church to approve an openly homosexual man as bishop and the blessing of same-sex unions,

questions have been asked about the position of the Presbyterian Church in America on these issues. Here is a brief overview of actions

of past General Assemblies and summaries of these actions:

The 21st General Assembly (1993) adopted a Declaration of Conscience that was sent to the President of the United States of America (with copies to the leadership of the United States House of Representatives and Senate and to the governors of the several states and any other

interested parties):

"Mr. President, in this Declaration the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in America humbly declares its conscience concerning the moral legitimacy of homosexuality. God has spoken without equivocation through his Word declaring homosexuality to be a perversion of his created order, his moral law, and the foundations of society...

"Please note: in condemning homosexual practice we claim no self-righteousness. The Bible we cite also teaches that all particular sins flow from one rebellious disposition of heart? The Apostle reminds the Corinthian believers, `And such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of

our God.'"

In an action titled: "In Opposition to Disney's Promotion of Homosexual Lifestyle," the 1996 General Assembly said, "We abhor what Disney and other corporations do to promote the homosexual lifestyle."

In 1997 the PCA General Assembly took the following action with regard to the boycott of Disney:

In response to the boycott of Disney enterprises by Christian groups including the Southern Baptist Convention, the Presbyterian Church in America reiterated its position on homosexual issues adopted in 1996.

"We affirm the Bible's teaching that promotion of homosexual conduct and relationships by any society, including action by the governments to sanction and legitimize homosexual relationships by the legalization of homosexual marriages, is an abominable sin calling for God's judgment upon any such society (Leviticus 18:22 and Romans 1:18-32).

"We also affirm our belief in the transforming power of God's grace and our commitment to `speaking the truth in love' to those in the homosexual community."

The 1999 General Assembly declared that homosexual activity is sin and not an acceptable alternative lifestyle. Moreover, PCA churches were warned about the aggressive homosexual agenda.

The following is found in a PCA publication "Twenty Questions and Answers about the Presbyterian Church in America:"

"Position on Homosexuality?

It is sin. But just as with any other sin, the PCA deals with these people in a pastoral way, seeking to transform their lifestyle through the power of the gospel as applied by the Holy Spirit."

The Westminster Larger Catechism states the following:

Q. 139. What are the sins forbidden in the seventh commandment?

A. The sins forbidden in the seventh commandment, besides the neglect of the duties required, are adultery, fornication, rape, incest, sodomy, and all unnatural lusts; all unclean imaginations,

thoughts, purposes, and affections, all corrupt or filthy communications, or listening thereunto; wanton looks, impudent or light behavior, immodest apparel; prohibiting of lawful, and dispensing with unlawful marriages; allowing, tolerating, keeping of stews (old English word meaning houses of prostitution), and resorting to them;entangling vows of single life, undue delay of marriage, having more wives or husbands than one at the same time; unjust divorce, or desertion; idleness, gluttony, drunkenness, unchaste company;lascivious songs, books, pictures, dancings, stage plays; and all other provocations to, or acts of uncleanness, either in ourselves or others.

Here are summaries of the various statements taken by past General Assemblies of the PCA that are sent to the media when requesting the PCA position on homosexuality:

Homosexual practice is sin. The Bible teaches that all particular sins flow from our rebellious disposition of heart. Just as with any other sin, the PCA deals with people in a pastoral way,

seeking to transform their lifestyle through the power of the gospel as applied by the Holy Spirit. Hence, in condemning homosexual practice we claim no self-righteousness, but recognize that any and

all sin is equally heinous in the sight of a holy God.

The PCA is committed to the sanctity of human sexual relationships. We believe God's intent in creation was that male and female would be complementary, that the privilege of sexual

expression would be between male and female only, and this expression would be only in the context of marriage. Both heterosexual and homosexual sexual behavior outside of marriage violates the human spirit and distorts God's intent for men and women.

I am not here to grind any axes, I am here to do the thing that Christians do, that is to witness to the good of God

- Bishop Gene Robinson November 2005

D.Lim: We see lies flying around all the time, very often without quotation of scriptures, as an exposition of scripture in the context of the Bible would readily expose their lies.

Some Anglican conservatives had called for the St-Martin-in-the-Fields church venue to be changed to a secular one.

D.Lim: The majority of Anglicans hardly stand for Christians, accepting conservatives who are ready to keep silent when confronting evil, even lending sympathy to evil doers. Some brave Anglican conservatives stand out for some statement but are not willing to put forth the law of God immediately, or walk in them in words and deeds/teachings all the time.

Bishop Robinson said: "We are seeing so many Roman Catholics joining the church.

D.Lim: Let us see how some homosexuals would surface from the RC church setting.

"Pope Ratzinger may be the best thing that ever happened to the Episcopal Church."

D.Lim: Let us see how evil doers congregate and surface, and how the people of God would stand up to witness for their salvation and glorigy Christ.

He continued: "I find it so vile that they think they are going to end the child abuse scandal by throwing out homosexuals from seminaries.

D.Lim: We are confronting evil all the time. The RC church is not dealing with one problem only or one question only at any time. This expression which is a lie is based on unsound thought, expected to rally unsound thought and ideal.

"It is an act of violence that needs to be confronted."

D.Lim: Evil always confront righteousness. The first user of the term "confrontation" is not by justified by default.

He had been asked not wear his full vestments or take part in the religious service before addressing the audience from a lectern rather than the pulpit.

D.Lim: It ought not be a matter of asking. He ought to have expelled from any Christian Church according to the Word of God. The audience that come to receive him and entertain him is fighting/striving against God and the Church.

"I'm here to encourage you to talk about God," he said.

D.Lim: Christians are taught to witness for God; preaching and teaching form the Scriptures(The Word of God).

The act of talking about God without the Bible as reference point all the time, is Liberalism, an abomination to the Church.

"I am not here to talk about a social agenda. I am not here to grind any axes, I am here to do the thing that Christians do, that is to witness to the good of God."

D.Lim: What a lie! It is a social agenda; an agenda that the Biblical Church does not support or entertain.

We look forward to seeing people taking sides that we may build the Church up and leave evil doers to their acts, being self-condemned(deceiving and being deceived).

The London Diocesan Evangelical Fellowship, which includes senior lay and clergy members, had urged the Archbishop of Canterbury to move the Bishop's talk to a secular venue to prevent "damaged relations" between sections of the church.

D.Lim: A stance far too soft, and unBiblical. The righteous shall live by faith, not motions, and delay of righteous actions.

The Bishop said his home state in the US was "the one place in the world where I am not the gay bishop - I'm just the bishop... it is a wonderful feeling".

D.Lim: Evil acts do have nice feelings some like to call, "good".

He said homosexuals would eventually be fully welcomed in the church but warned that it may take some time.

"This is going to end with our full inclusion," he said. "We won't live to see it, but it's going to happen."

D.Lim: The Churches will be killed and live again. Evil cannot take over forever. The righteous must take side and glorify God with their witnesses.

On Thursday the New Hampshire bishop met Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, and said he wanted to help heal the rift caused by his consecration, but would not give up his post.

D.Lim: Another lie made obvious now; voided of Bible teaching and reference.

Another lie to attract Liberals.

His conscecration two years ago attracted widespread criticism from the more conservative African and Asian sections of the church. - Sunday, 6 November 2005, 08:35 GMT BBC News

Changing Attitude is an organisation which calls for the Anglican Church to "fully accept, welcome and offer equality of opportunity to lesbian, gay bisexual people".

D.Lim: We see ungodly acts and approach of secular societies allowing such mechanism to exist in the first place and let them run on.

The Christian Faith is Theocracy. Let God be God.

There is no godly pedestal for Democracy. No godly or saintly platform for Democracy.
