I am thirsty
John is the only record for these words of Christ.
John19 v28:
28. After this Jesus, knowing that all things are now finished, that the scripture might be accomplished, saith, I thirst. -asv
28. |3326| After |5124| this, |1492| knowing |2424| Jesus |3754| that |3956| all things |2235| already |5055| have been done, |2443| that |5048| be fulfilled |3588| the |1124| Scripture, |3004| says, |1372| I thirst. -lit
The redemption is effective right at that point. It started to be effective before the death of Christ. All things have already been done to Him.
Jesus was with God the Father all the time until that point of His suffering, when He felt and expressed a lack of fellowship with the Father. He thirsted for the lack of this living water.
Even God thirsted for our sake.
Eternity amissed.
In the past Jesus claimed to have food not known to the disciples when He worked with the Father; even that He did not have any food physically.
We can therefore take the position that Jesus Christ was not longing or needing the vinegar (sour wine) to quench a bit of His physical thirst, and to prolong His earthly life and suffering a little bit further.
There was no mentioning that He did drink the vinegar. Jn19 v30 tells of His receiving I2983I the vinegar but no mentioning of drinking it. (A passive act)
