But for our teaching and benefit, He showed us what we need to do as people of God, having physical and human limitations.

We ought to trust God and obey Him even when we cannot see to the end results.

We need not fear or submit to Satan.

It is fitting for us to fulfil all righteousness.

4:1 當時, 耶穌被 (.聖.) 靈引到曠野, 受魔鬼的試探.

Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

Christ was led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit, and not brought there by the devil. The devil did not carry Him there. But watch out! The devil has power.

4:2 祂禁食四十晝夜, 後來就餓了.

Jesus being human in likeness can feel hunger and thirst.

He did not try to demonstrate His God/Spirit nature here while on earth before the crucifixion.

He limited Himself in time boundaries.

He was born a little baby. He needed food and drink at times.

4:5 魔鬼就帶祂進了聖城, 叫祂站在殿頂上, (.頂原文作翅.)

Then the devil taketh Him up into the holy city, and setteth Him on a pinnacle of the temple,

This verse warns us of the power of Satan. The devil could carry/transport human from place to place. The devil has spiritual powers and able to counterfeit. There are false miracle workers, false preachers, false exocists.

God was not so weak as to be transported by the Devil to wherever place the Devil has in mind.

Afterall, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are still in Heaven and omnipresent.

God is still in control.

Look to God who is in control.

God allows things to take place. Things that seem hard to understand, why almighty and all powerful God need to do and bear all these. Events and actions with end results we could not see or know at the time. We are shown examples of Christ to trust and obey the Father. It is we who need all these. God did them for our sake, and for the spirits.

It is for us. For our comfort. For our guidance. God is LOVE.

The devil kept speaking to Jesus. No power to force Jesus into submitting to evil.

4:10 耶穌說, 撒但退去罷. ((撒但就是抵擋的意思乃魔鬼的別名)) 因為 (.經上.) 記著說, [當拜主你的神, 單要事奉祂.]

Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

4:11 於是魔鬼離了耶穌, 有天使來伺候祂.

Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

Christ also, did not punish Satan (the Devil) at the time. For there is a time for everything. Christians are taught to respect and follow the timing of God, for the good we do not see at the moment.

Christ taught us obedience of the Son to the Father, the the love of the Son for the Father.

Christ also teaches us the power (the unchanging authority) of Scriptures. It is not up to argument. The power and authority is there.

Satan has to obey Scriptures. We need to know Scriptures.

There is no "if" � the Word speaks of certainty. It is written. What was written is enough for the time. No dispensation. No changing custom or culture. No progressive humanity.

Christ called the devil Satan魔鬼. By the authority of Scriptures, we may tell the devil who is Satan to leave.

The angels also follow the timing of God the Father. They came to minister to Christ after Satan has left.

Jesus also cried, ate, utter words, touched the sick, spoke to the demoniac, felt pain for us. We are to follow His example and trust God, trust the Father on High.
