The Culture of Lions 獅子文化

The single horned monster is termed "lion" in the Chinese culture/tradition.

The Southern Lion南方獅 has no hair on the head. They have long beard胡子 and a lot of eyebrow instead.
Southern lions chase after greens清 with red packet利市、紅包 attached to them.
They also eat oranges橙子 (round pearl-like objects).

The Northern Lion北方獅 has symbolic hair on its head and no beard.
Northern lions chase after a pearl/ball in their dance/play.

Very often, the lion resembles a monster, and a Buddhist/Hindu spirit. It just does not look like the lions in the wild.
