Methodism - An over-view

John Wesley was not a bible scholar although he used to read of the bible a lot.
Yet the Methodist Church nowadays is basing ordination on formal education in Theological Schools.

John Wesley is largely believed to be the founder of Methodism, although it was the responsibility of his followers in founding this name.

John Wesley was reputed to have preached 80,000 sermons in his life-time. A very large number/collection by the standard of any preacher.
This indicated his committment to preaching the gospel, that all his followers/Methodists did not follow.
Nobody willingly or under order/commission of the Methodist Church set out to preach a large amount of sermons (more than one a day) to anybody.
All his followers have failed to follow his example while praising his deed and agreeing this is a good thing.

John had a belief that he should open the bible at random and point to a verse at random (all so random) and find the command of God, and act upon it.
The bible never teach this as a way the Lord would speak to His followers.
None of the apostles did that.
This is unscholarly, and reflect no diligence in the part of an earnest bible student for seeking the truth. This method brings no continuation to the understanding of the word of God.

John never willingly left Anglicanism.

John preached on LOVE much and hardly preach on other aspects of biblical truth, such as righteousness and pre-destination. His followers are biased towards a message/gospel of love much more than John himself.

John liked round or octagonal church buildings, as this set an importance to the preaching of the word. The preacher should be heard of all round. He is not the only leader and the object of worship.
Yet the methodist churches built later are rectangular halls with the altar and lectern set at the very front on the congregation, encourage following of the pastor/leader, and discourage brotherhood.

The Methodist church nowadays is Liberal, denying the bible as the infallible word/the law of God.
Yet evangelicals on the whole even biblical christians still regard the Methodist church as a true christian church acceptable to Christ and the truth, and worth recommendation to all christians, and non-believers seeking God.
