Praying through songs and melody

Sing a new song unto the Lord.

( Is 42v10; Ps 28v7, 40v3, 96v1; Rv 5v9, 14v3 )

How very often christians are led and told by their leaders, pastors to bow down their heads to pray silently or in a low voice.

Little do these christians realise that the joy in the Lord is their strength. They are meant to be joyful and expressive. Paul sang to the Lord while in prison. Why did he not just pray silently. It is because he had overflowing joy and an urge to preach the gospel even through prayer. Singing can be heard further, with more comforting tones, and easier to remember than just words in flat tones.

You also may try to write spiritual songs and poetry for praising the Lord, and for evangelism. Examples of such effort could be found in christian hymnals, and of course, in the Bible ( 1King 4v32 ).

The book of Psalms and Song of Solomon ( SS 1v1 ) are meant to be sung out in public. Praying is not a shameful thing. Neither is singing praises to God ( Ex 15v2 ). Prophets ( Rv 15v3 ) and judges and Israel ( Nu 21v17; Ne 12v46 ) and other saints ( Eph 5v19; Col 3v16 ) sing to God. Make melody in your hearts ( Eph 5v19 ).

You think God does not like to hear your voice? Who told you that? Who convinced you of that?

Is singing too much? King David even danced before the Ark; as if singing is not enough to express the rightful joy and praises of his people to the Lord God.

May your prayer life increases ( Is 12v5 ); and your songs preach the Good News ( Ps 32v7 ) farther and farther.
