Praying Posture

Job11
1. Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,
13. If thou set thy heart aright, And stretch out thy hands toward him;

15. Surely then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; Yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear: -ASV

Job12
3. But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: Yea, who knoweth not such things as these? -ASV

The passage above tells us that both Zophar the Job knew that it is right to stretch out ones hands toward God in prayer.

It is also right and to be encouraged to lift up ones face with good consecience to the Lord.

This is common practice as of old.

Christians are not required to bow their heads and postrate their bodies before God all the time.

Lift up your hearts and lift up your heads to your heavenly Father.

Psalm 63
3. Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise thee.
4. So will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

We praise God with our lips. This includes all forms of actions and sounds, singing, preaching, speaking, and crying.

We have enough reason to praise the Lord in all circumstances.

We lift up our hands in His Holy Name and bless Him. This is part of our prayers, blessings, and praising.

Psalm 88
9. Mine eye wasteth away by reason of affliction: I have called daily upon thee, O Jehovah; I have spread forth my hands unto thee.

We plead in our prayers by spreading forth our hands.

We do not hold back from physical expression.

Psalm 119
48. I will lift up my hands also unto thy commandments, which I have loved; And I will meditate on thy statutes.

A sign of acknowledgment, and allegiance.

A form of preaching, instruction and expression.

Psalm 143
6. I spread forth my hands unto thee: My soul thirsteth after thee, as a weary land. [Selah

Not just with voice; but with body language.

Physical action also express the state of the spirit and the soul/life.

Hab 3
10. The mountains saw thee, and were afraid; The tempest of waters passed by; The deep uttered its voice, And lifted up its hands on high.

Expression to the Lord should include lifting the hands on high by all expression available.

Do not hold back from worshipping and praising the Lord. Your expression include more than just keeping silence, and letting others do all the talking and action. Join in and partake. Praise the Lord while you have life, for He is worth all praises.

Love others by showing them love, submission and subjection to the Lord of Lords, King of kings.

Lift up your voice to the Almighty. . . unceasingly.

Bowing your head to the Almighty is no sin. Refusing to lift up your head to Him is not obedient to the Word, giving Him all glory that is available.

Trust in the Lord, that He wants to rejoice with you. Do good and enjoy the fruits of goodness, the fruits of your labour.
