Paul's letter to the Romans
A letter of reminders, righteousness, love and prophesy.
Romans 2 - ASV
1. Wherefore thou art without excuse, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judges another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest dost practise the same things.
Do not hide behind excuses.
Those who judge ought to know that everyone is on the same ground.
Where is your truth?
Be holy, set apart. Do not be of the world.
2. And we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against them that practise such things.
Judge according to the truth, just as God is.
God judges worldly judgement.
3. And reckonest thou this, O man, who judgest them that practise such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
Stay away from evil/wrong.
Do not judge and sin the same. Be the standard, holy and dedicated to God.
By the same righteous standards God and the saints will judge the world.
4. Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
Have patience rather than just quick judgement and sentencing.
Lead others to repentance.
Change from evil into good. It is not enough just condemning the bad.
The wrath of God comes with judgement and revelation.
5. but after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up for thyself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
Christian hearts could remain hard. The bible does not teaching instant perfection at repectance.
The judgement day of God is the day of wrath. God is not without wrath because of love. God is righteous; and love delights in righteousness and righteous deeds.
6. who will render to every man according to his works:
God is righteous and just.
Reap what you sowed.
7. to them that by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and incorruption, eternal life:
Christians should seek incorruption and honor. This is not necessary if instant perfection/incorruption exist.
The enemies' attack/scorn/mocking that christians do not live up to perfection is a strawman in itself.
Everlasting life confirms/comes later.
8. but unto them that are factious, and obey not the truth, but obey unrighteousness, shall be wrath and indignation,
Heretics/factious persons obey unrighteousness. The wrath of God shall come upon them later.
9. tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that worketh evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Greek;
Paul teaches/reveals that evil will be punished. Not all will get to heaven peacfully.
The Jews having covenanted with God first, and walking with God more, will be rewarded first.
The Jews who sinned first, more seriously, breaking more covenants and disobeyed God more, and quicker, will be punished first.
Like with like. Very just/fair.
10. but glory and honor and peace to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek:
The Jews are the first covenanted people/nation, walking with God more than the Gentiles in general.
There are exceptions, such as Enoch and Job.
The Greek refers to the gentiles who accepted God and Christ after the crucifixion. their covenant was striked later than the Old Covenant.
11. for there is no respect of persons with God.
Only righteousness. Not chronology, and worldly position.
God searches the hearts.
Those who worship Him must do so in spirit and in truth.
12. For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without the law: and as many as have sinned under the law shall be judged by the law;
One thing for sure. There is no other name given by which men must be saved. Only Jesus saves.
Those without Jesus die in their particular ways.
13. for not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified:
In spirit and in truth.
Your works and fruits show your root and belonging. Nothing can be hidden in maturity.
Lazy people do not inherit heaven. The work of God is joyous. His york is light. Being with God is happiness.
To live is Christ.
To exist without Christ/God is death.
14. (for when Gentiles that have not the law do by nature the things of the law, these, not having the law, are the law unto themselves;
Righteousnes only counts. Only Righteousness counts.
The law is righteous.
Lip service does not count. lies do not help getting relationship right.
15. in that they show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness therewith, and their thoughts one with another accusing or else excusing them );
Job is an example. He acted right without the OT and NT.
The fear of God is beginning of wisdom.
16. in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men, according to my gospel, by Jesus Christ.
What is hidden is brought out. the sources are revealed.
The gospel Paul preaches is by Jesus Christ. Jesus is the author and executor.
17. But if thou bearest the name of a Jew, and restest upon the law, and gloriest in God,
Be for the Lord.
Glorify the Lord in your heritage.
18. and knowest his will, and approvest the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law,
The law is to lead your to excellence. It is not a burden.
19. and art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them that are in darkness,
Those with the law can/may lead those without the law.
The law is given sight for walking the earth/life.
The world is blessed through the law, through this given light, unto salvation; unto union with God.
The law repairs broken relationship. The law therefore gives life and happiness.
There is no other light to follow, for those who are in the dark. The great light, which is God, has delivered the representatives, sons of light to guide those in the dark.
We have Moses and the prophets. Christ would not come back again and again in different forms, as light for each individual.
20. a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth;
Fools need to be corrected, not destroyed. Correcting takes time.
Antichrists are not fools. They are antichrists.
The demon possessed need exocism if they are willing to turn to the Lord God.
Babies need to be taught; not ignored and isolated.
Babies may act foolishly sometimes. They are to be corrected.
21. thou therefore that teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?
Those with the law can/may teach others. they should do likewise.
There is no double standard.
Examine yourselves. Do you sin while telling other not to?
22. thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou rob temples?
Do you exhibit double standards?
How then, can you judge? Do you judge with double standards? Double minded?
One slave cannot serve 2 masters. Choose yourselves. Make your minds and consecience clear.
Be a light to the world.
23. thou who gloriest in the law, through thy transgression of the law dishonorest thou God?
You expressed that the law is good and glorious.
You dishonored God by working another conflicting standard. Do you? Or do you not?
24. For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you, even as it is written.
You have hurt the name, the reputation of God through the law, and your model behavior.
You know what is written. It is easy to compare and differentiate.
25. For circumcision indeed profiteth, if thou be a doer of the law: but if thou be a transgressor of the law, thy circumcision is become uncircumcision.
All signs are profitable if views and done according to the law, which is for our good.
Disobedience is uncircumcision.
To obey is better than sacrifice. Love His commandments, and not memon/worldly treasures.
Draw near to the Lord, and He will draw near to you.
He/the Spirit, who is in you is greater.
26. If therefore the uncircumcision keep the ordinances of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be reckoned for circumcision?
The importance is in the keeping/obeying of God's commandments/requirements.

27. and shall not the uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who with the letter and circumcision art a transgressor of the law?
Whoever keeps the law may judge for the good/requirement of God.
Examine yourselves. Be holy and be holy first.
28. For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh:
There is the outward code and inward code.
Be truthful both outward and inward.
29. but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
God judges the hearts. The covenants/cuts are cut/striked out clearly in the hearts.
Face the spirit of the law. Do not fool with mere words.
God is eager to reward.
