The only absolute authority of God, the discourse/Word of God
There is no lack of scriptural verses/record telling us the supreme importance and authority of scripture(The Holy[set apart] Bible) for doing good.
The revealer - God never condemn scriptures as insufficient or faulty.
No doubt many prophets and seers have spoken in history; but none of their prophesies is recorded in scripture, or holding similar authority to scriptures; not even the Talmud, the writings of Enoch, the writings of Noah and his sons, and the early writings of the Fathers.
Right from the beginning of human history, only special revelation/psalms/poems/books/writings were selected to be included as the Bible.
Ps119 v11. Thy word have I laid up in my heart, That I might not sin against thee.
Nothing else as important and beneficial.
This is the guard against sinning, against separating from the living God. This is live that we may be with the living God.
This is love that we may not be found going against our loving and living God. Nothing else. This is the Authority and use of scriptures. Nothing else holds this authority. No other utterance. No other writing.
The Lord(YHWH) has spoken; who can but prophesy?
The psalmist did not express any danger of altered scripture. It is just good enough for resisting sin and nearing God. It is worth the melody, the praise, the reliance.
Ps119 v160. The sum of thy word is truth; And every one of thy righteous ordinances endureth for ever.
Truth is being expressed by the sum of His word/discourse, which is the recorded scriptures. Other prophetic books/writings are never included. Not even the Talmud by the Judaists themselves. Nothing else is as Holy as the Bible - the only Word of God.
All His ordinances recorded endures for ever. No mentioning of human copying error being sufficient a consideration to downgrade its trustworthiness.
2Tim3 v 16. Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness.
v17. That the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work.
No exception. Every scripture([Strong's Ref. # 1124, Romanized : graphe] document, Biblion)
Every scripture is there to allow the man of God to be complete, furnished completely to do every good work. There is no insufficiency expressed by and in the revelation of the scriptures.
You will follow all of scriptures if you listen to, and trust in God, that He loves you enough to let you have a faithful and true testament of His will.
Paul did not consider incompletness of men by following scriptures. He teaches that such men are furnished/equipped to do every good work. Every good work! No lacking. No missing. No insufficiency.
Rev22 v6. And he said unto me, These words are faithful and true: and the Lord,
This revelation is faithful and true. Not unfaithful due to some human mistake, such as faulty hearing of the original writer, John.
The angel did not worry about transmission, or reception of John.
Rev22 v9. And he saith unto me, ... I am a fellow-servant with thee and with thy brethren the prophets, and with them that keep the words of this book: worship God.
Keep the words!
Be a fellow-servant of the prophets, the brethren and angel.
Rev22 v12. Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to render to each man according as his work is.
One cannot claim the promises of scriptures as revelation of God unless one put faith(evidence of unseen things) into the trustworthiness of scriptures. The hand of God is not too short to save the integrity of His own revelation.
The 10 commandments has never become any less than 10 in transmission. The OT and NT have never become half O halfN testament. Books of Moses have always been there. Paul has always been there. The Synoptic, the Acts, the Revelation. No loss of content. It is not the lost of comma or words that kills. It is the lost of faithfullness, the lost of love; the lost of love.
You cannot just take something out, make something up, and claim the blessings of God, by cut and paste. You need to select all first. Trust and obey, for there is no other way.
Liberals are not modern and updated christians. The knives of their hearts have cut up scriptures; divided the promises and blessings.
Daniel 9
v24. Seventy weeks are decreed upon thy people ... and to seal up vision and prophecy...
v24. Seventy weeks are decreed upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy.
The Messiah is prophesied to be cut off by 62x7 years after the restoration of the city of Jerusalem.
(70-62)x7=56. Vision and prophecy are decreed to be sealed up after 56 year from the crucifixion of Christ/HaMeshiah.
If Christ (born around 5 BC, walked on earth some 33 years) died at 28 AD, 56 years later will bring us to 84AD. About the time when the Book of Revelation by John is done. So, no more scripture being written after that. Here completes the Bible.
We may say that the Bible with all the scriptures therein is completed by 90AD (1st century after Christ).
