As an Artist, painter, sculptor, designer.

David Lim is a Modern Artist in Traditional Chinese Painting and Western Art.

Disciple of Prof. Fu Hung Lee of Ling Nan School of Modern Chinese Brush Painting. This is the Chinese School that promotes modernising traditional Chinese Painting. It seeks to explore new brush strokes, paper/media, and color. It learns from other culture and finds expression in contextural media.

Also, Lim learned Oil Painting, and Water Colour from Mr Hon Chai Chan, Hong Kong.

He has developed his own style in 1981 and held exhibition in England, Hong Kong and Canada.

Lim likes knife painting, as he enjoys multi-dimensional expression (with thickness and depth), fast and hard strokes, as well as very slow sculpting of color in creating/formulating expression/impression.

He naturally owns a large collection of knives and construction material.

Lim also enjoys hard brushes which are viewed as related knife-type.

Sculpting and painting are brought together in many of his creation. His early pieces of multi-dimensional painting was shown in East London, UK in 1990 before he came to Canada.

He is still pursuiting 3-dimensional imaging in his photography. Flatness is not a common term in his vocabulary.
