Is the God of the Bible a cold-blood murderer?

A reflection/exposition of Psalm 136

No.

God is Good.

No unrepentant man can stand before Him face to face, because of His glory, purity, and justice.

The whole world is condemned after the sin of disobedience committed by our original parents, Adam and Eve.

The whole world has fallen under the wrath and judgment of the Almighty God.

There is no absolutely righteous man naturally born of man; for all have inherited sin and condemnation.

There is the Paradise's lost.

There is no returning without atoning sacrifice and propitiation.

That is why Christ Jesus, our Lord came. To save mankind from sure destruction.

God is Good.

The Bible never claims that God is charitable as mankind.

He does not initiate animal rights groups or movement.

He does not send aids to areas of natural disasters, just to prolong lives.

He does not join United Way.

He does what none of these people and groups does. He saves souls and grant the repented ones Eternal Life.

Life everlasting!

Much better than buying a few years by token gesture.

Yet, the scoffers, the enemies of the cross prefer having some years of life on earth instead. They called this kindness, justice, love, lovingkindness and charity.

They have forsaken the living fountain of living water, and chose broken cisterns dug by their own hands.

This does not seem kind or wise to me. To you?

Psalms 136

v1. Oh give thanks unto Jehovah; For he is good; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever.

Be thankful.

Be thankful; for this is our joy, our enjoyment, our duty, our inheritance.

The Bible and its writers speak of God as good. The anti-christ world imagined a charitable god for many selfish universe, a creation whose purpose is greed, gain and self-righteousness.

Our Lord is good. HE IS!

He is the Great "I AM". "Ego Eimi".

Praise Him that He is all contained. He is shalom. He is everything necessary and required for harmony and stability.

He is our true longing in staying away from destruction.

Thank Him that He is our Lord. Stability lord over us.

He is not the great "EGO" ungodly men want to be. He doesn't teach selfishness; but show His lovingkindness. He cares in His tender mercies. He delayed our death to sin. He imputed righteousness over sinners. He propitiate for His brethren, people of God. He is our salvation, our rock.

v2. Oh give thanks unto the God of gods; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever.

He is greater than all idols. He is our reference point. He is the centre, the target, the meaning of life.

He is better than and above all others because of His lovingkindness, and it lasts for ever. It withstands time and tests.

Love never fails. There is no failure in God.

v3. Oh give thanks unto the Lord of lords; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever:

Oh!

Oh, give thanks to Him. Thank Him, and thank Him.

For He is mighty. Elshaddai.

v4. To him who alone doeth great wonders; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever:

No one else can do such great wonders. No one else could atone sin. No one else could open the Red Sea with perfect timing. No one else could love unceasingly.

v5. To him that by understanding made the heavens; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever:

Before all creation, He understood.

We are still learning.

Who has learned it all? let him stand forth and answer us.

v6. To him that spread forth the earth above the waters; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever:

The lovingkindness of our Lord lasts longer than the earth He spread above the waters.

We viewed our habitation here on earth as everlasting until we learned from science that the whole universe, one day, will contract back to a dot; and heat will discipate to an insignificantly low level.

Searching His lovingkindness is more important than searching out ETs and inhabitable planets in the cosmos; for His lovingkindness lasts longer.

There is no depletion.

v7. To him that made great lights; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever:

The great lights we depend on for living are but part of His creation.

He authored our continuation.

Praise be to God; for He is worth the praise.

v8. The sun to rule by day; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever;

He has given us livelihood, energy, sight, warmth, and enjoyment.

His love goes beyond the life of stars.

Certainly much longer than any science subject.

v9. The moon and stars to rule by night; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever:

He has planned for our pleasure and thankfulness.

He has set the skies for our drama and wonder.

v10. To him that smote Egypt in their first-born; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever;

He killed for the glory of all redeemed mankind.

He gave men a way out.

He sees beyond earthly living.

v11. And brought out Israel from among them; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever;

His guidance is certainty.

He led the stiffnecked people out as well.

v12. With a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever:

He has power to save.

His lovingkindness is a certainty.

v13. To him that divided the Red Sea in sunder; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever;

He has power to perform saving miracles.

He is to be remembered for (substantial) redemption.

v14. And made Israel to pass through the midst of it; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever;

He led and guild. He did not fail.

His love is certain.

v15. But overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red Sea; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever:

If Moses and the Israelites could have timed the openning of the Red Sea, according to the enemies of Christ, so could Pharaoh. The destruction of Pharaoh's army and pride shows us that they failed to time it properly.

Who would gamble his might arm of battle with nature? Not even today. Not even Hitler. Not even the US.

No natural phenomenon could have timed exactly that the sea would close back at the army of Pharaoh to destroy them so completely. Felt so secure at first. No warning at termination.

In the lvingkindness of the Lord, the Israelites were allowed to live, to survive for much long than under the sword of Pharaoh. They had more than a breathing space.

We see that this event led to the establishment of the Torah, Judaism, Christianity later; with life eternal and a new heaven and a new earth to follow.

His love, lovingkindness, kindness lasts to eternity.

v16. To him that led his people through the wilderness; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever:

Our Lord leads any body who would follow. Those who followed are viewed/regarded as His people. This does not mean all will follow to the utmost, to the end, to be saved in God. They have a freedom of choice even to their own destruction.

v17. To him that smote great kings; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever;

He determines. He is King of kings.

v18. And slew famous kings; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever:

He has power to overthrow kings. He determines the final outcome.

He is beyond science, transient understandings.

He has power over life and death.

他是有情。

v19. Sihon king of the Amorites; For his lovingkindness endureth forever;

The blessings of having a king is enough to experience His ongoing lovingkindness. Things are going to fall into places, just as the firm establishment of a king.

v20. And Og king of Bashan; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever;

A firm series of events. The Lord is more than some kings. He has set time for everything.

v21. And gave their land for a heritage; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever;

Our heritage on earth is but a time in His schedule, from which we know that He has planned for much greater epic and show forth His love in the eras to come.

Rest assured that He is God.

天地有情。

v22. Even a heritage unto Israel his servant; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever:

v23. Who remembered us in our low estate; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever;

Nothing escapes His care. He is not affected by the state/position of His creation and creatures.

v24. And delivers us from our adversaries; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever:

He wins over our adversaries and destroyers.

v25. Who gives food to all flesh; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever.

He is the provider of sustanence.

v26. Oh give thanks unto the God of heaven; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever.

Be touched; and give thanks. He is worth all of that. Look what He has done and will do.
