Is the King James Bible an unbroken continuation from the very beginning?
Evidence supplied here is by no means comprehensive. With the domino effect, a failing of one area brings cascading effect on the whole.
Mark 1:1 says: "The beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Son of God".
However, important witnesses, including Origen, and Codex Sinaiticus, the only Great Codex to contain the entire New Testament, omit the phrase, Son of God.
Did a scribe add this phrase or did a scribe drop it?
In any case, it is clear that the idea that Jesus was the Son of God is an important point of Christian doctrine about which manuscripts differ.
Advocates of the KJB as the Word of God do not associate themselves with the oldest texts (ecclectic method) such as Codex Sinaiticus (Aleph).
This implies that the text behind the KJB is a compilation of segments of scriptures, rather than from one complete book down a line of transmission.
The KJB certainly has not follow the Codex Sinaiticus in omitting this phrase (Son of God). ===
In the KJB published at Rivingtons, its footnote for Mark1:1 only refers cross reference with Matt 14:33, Luke 1:35, John 1:34.
In the footnote of NKJB no reference is given to the origin of (Son of God) in this verse.
In the NASB Lockman 77, the footnote for Mark 1:1 states that many mss. do not contain the "Son of God".
[Many] normally refers to [the majority].
For the KJB that is supposed to be based on mss. and the majority text; happened to have a verse/part that is not found in the majority of scripture copies, but on a few incomplete texts that might not be mss is sailing against its own course. The following authorities containing this phrase are found only in fragments:
Cod. Boreelianus (IX), Cod. Seidelianus II, Cod. Oxoniensis. >
